While celebrating the graduation of its 25th cohort, Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University (KTMU) also laid the foundation for an important investment for future generations. Prior to the graduation ceremony, a groundbreaking event was held for a modern girls’ dormitory with a capacity of 1,000 beds, to be built on the university campus.
The ceremony was attended by KTMU Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan, Deputy Rector Prof. Dr. Almaz Ibraev, Vice-Rectors, the Secretary- General, academic and administrative staff, students, and members of the press.
Rector Ceylan: “We Are Mobilizing All Our Resources for Our Students”
Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan emphasized that Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University consistently follows a student-centered approach, stating that all available resources are being mobilized to ensure students can pursue their education in higher quality and more comfortable conditions. He stressed that fulfilling promises is as important as making them, adding: “We consider it our fundamental responsibility to implement the commitments we make to our students, step by step, and to move our university forward every day.”
“Today is a Historic Day for Manas University”
Prof. Dr. Ceylan noted that comprehensive maintenance, repair, and renovation works have also been launched in existing dormitories at the Chyngyz Aitmatov Campus ahead of the new academic year. He underlined that the university places great importance not only on academic buildings but also on infrastructure that supports students’ social lives, in line with the “Living Campus” vision.
He described the foundation-laying ceremony as a historic moment for the university, stating: “There is no stopping; we have much work ahead. We must work harder to achieve greater goals and success. Today, we are taking an important step that will shape the future of Manas University.”
“Manas University Builds the Common Future of the Turkic World”
Referring to the university’s founding vision, Rector Ceylan recalled the words of famous writer Chyngyz Aitmatov, emphasizing the realization of a shared Turkic university ideal where youth from across the Turkic World would gather under one roof. He stated that Manas University has become one of the most concrete embodiments of this ideal, adding that graduates are now individuals equipped with knowledge, skills, and values to serve the Turkic World, their nations, and humanity. He also thanked everyone involved in the project, from architects and engineers to technical teams and staff, and wished the new dormitory complex to be beneficial for the university, students, and Kyrgyzstan.
Deputy Rector Ibraev: “Student Dormitory is a Priority Need in Kyrgyzstan”
Deputy Rector Prof. Dr. Almaz Ibraev emphasized that KTMU is among the country’s leading higher education institutions, known for its academic quality and student-centered approach. He highlighted that student housing remains a significant need in Kyrgyzstan and noted that the university is implementing major investments to address this issue sustainably.
He said the new girls’ dormitory project will significantly improve accommodation opportunities, adding: “This valuable project will meet one of our students’ most important needs. I believe this investment will contribute not only to Manas University but also to strengthening Kyrgyzstan’s higher education infrastructure.” He added that the new complex will provide safe, modern, and comfortable living spaces for thousands of students in the future.
Foundation Laid with Prayers
The ceremony continued with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an and prayers. Following the prayers, the foundation of the 1,000-bed girls’ dormitory was laid with the participation of university leadership, academic and administrative staff, and guests.
Graduates Join the Moment for Future Manas Students
Graduates of the 25th cohort, who were celebrating their own graduation, also took part in the symbolic foundation-laying ceremony for future students. They contributed with the message: “A brick from us for those who come after us.” This gesture symbolized a bridge between generations of Manas students and reflected the strong spirit of solidarity within the university community.
A Modern Living Space for Students
The 1,000-bed girls’ dormitory project is designed as a modern residential complex supporting students’ academic, social, and cultural development. The complex will consist of four dormitory buildings and include shared facilities such as a library, dining hall, cafeteria, and common social spaces.
As part of KTMU’s “Living Campus” vision, the project aims to provide a safe, comfortable, and modern environment for students. Once completed, the complex will host thousands of students and stand as a key example of the university’s student-centered approach and forward-looking vision.
