Seminar on Religious Education in Kyrgyzstan (Res. Assist. Cazgul Colaliyeva)
On 06.12.2023 at 15:30, a seminar on "Religious Education in Kyrgyzstan" was held by our Faculty Research Assistant Cazgül Colaliyeva in Abu Hanife hall. The main purpose of the seminar was to explain to the audience the general situation of Religious Education in Kyrgyzstan. In the first part of the seminar, a brief history of religious education in Kyrgyzstan was given. For ease of understanding, the history of religious education in the country was divided into 4 stages: 1st stage - Religious education from ancient times to the 1800s; 2nd stage : religious education between 1800-1914; 3rd stage - religious education between 1914 and 1991 (Soviet Era); 4th stage - religious education in Kyrgyzstan from 1991 to the present. The speaker particularly focused on the 4th stage, that is, the state of religious education in modern times.
During the years of independence, religious education in Kyrgyzstan was discussed in two categories: "formal" and "non-formal". Under the topic of formal religious education, the situation of religious education in schools, colleges and universities was explained. Under the topic of non-formal religious education, the nature of religious education in non-official educational institutions such as madrasas, mosques and Quran courses was discussed. In the conclusion, problems in the field of religious education were mentioned and some suggestions were made. This seminar, was attended by faculty academicians, administrative staff and students. It was followed with interest. At the end of the seminar, Dean of the Faculty of Theology Prof. Dr. Hasan AYIK presented the certificate of appreciation to the speaker.
