This week the seminar "The Importance of Travelers and Their Works in the Tradition of Science" was represented by Prof. Dr. Ahmet KAVAS within the scope of Faculty of Theology 2021-2022 Spring Semester Academic Seminars Series. The seminar was held on 26.04.2022 with the intense participation of our faculty members and students. It was held on-line via Google Meet program. Kavas is the Turkish diplomat, academician and writer, who still serves as the Ambassador of T. R. in Senegal. He emphasized the place and importance of travelers in the history of Islamic science in his valuable and interesting presentation. He gave examples of the activities and works of travelers such as Ibn Battuta, Katip Çelebi and Evliya Çelebi, and said about their contributions to our world of science. The seminar of Mr. Kavas, who is known for his works in the fields of Islam in Africa, Turkey-Africa Relations, and Ottoman History, was ended with a question and answer session.
