A series of events were held by the Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University as part of the "Historical and Ancestor Remembrance Day" in Kyrgyzstan. Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan expressed his desire to have programs related to this day in every faculty in the Senate. The Dean of the Faculty of Theology immediately took action. For this purpose, a visit was made to Ata-Beyit National History and Monument Complex on Friday, 11.11.2022, with the participation of academic, administrative staff and students, as an activity of the Wise Theologians Community, established by the students of the Faculty, and approximately 50 students went to Ata Beyit with the vehicles of the academic staff of the faculty.
During the visit the Quran was recited, prayers were made, and brief information was given in the place where 138 Kyrgyz intellectuals were martyred in 1938. The students, who participated in this program, visited the museum. In the museum there were excibited such items as coins, shoes, documents, photographs, identities, résumés of martyrs and newspaper clippings from the mass grave where the shot martyrs were buried. At the Ata Beyit Complez there is a tomb of the world-famous writer of Kyrgyzstan, Chingiz Aytmatov. Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Kemal Polat in his speech stated that history is the memory of a nation, that nations that do not know their history and past will be doomed to extinction and will not be able to establish a good future. He thanked the Prof. Dr. Bekir Tatlı and all the staff and students who participated in the program.
The trip was important also because it was the first activity of the "Wise Theologians Community." This community was established by the students of the Faculty of Theology with the aim of raising students' awareness on religious and national issues.
