History of Religions in the Kyrgyzstan's Education System (Panel)


The panel on "History of Religions in the Kyrgyzstan Education System" was held at the Faculty of Theology On 15.02.2023.

Prof. Dr. Kemal Polat became a chairman of the panel. He presented a paper on the subject of "The Place and Importance of the History of Religions Today". Talking about the importance of the history of religions, Polat emphasized that knowing one's own religion is based on knowing other religions, so that the value of Islam will be better understood and said: "Look at other houses and love your own house, look at other your villages and love your own village,  look at other religions and love your own one."

 Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bakit Murzaraimov talked about the religious groups that entered Kyrgyzstan after independence and their activities. He emphasized what kind of problems it creates in terms of security and that the solution of this will be achieved by teaching the history of religions course at public schools.

 The research assistant Cazgül Colalieva, in her presentation titled "The Development of Religious Education Until the 'History of Religions' Course in Schools", mentioned that there were taught such courses like "Iyman" and "Adep" at public schools in the past 30 years, but these courses were not effective, so they were removet from shool program. Colalieva stated that the history of religions lesson, which started to be taught last year, has an important role in religious education.

The graduate student Muhammet Isakov, who works as a Religion Course Teacher in Bishkek, presented a paper on "History of Religions Taught in Schools and Problems Encountered". In the presentation, he talked about problems that teachers encounter during the teaching of this course such as problems regarding the teacher, material and student and solution suggestions.

The panel continued with questions and answers and concluded with the presentation of participation certificates to the speakers.
