The Department of Chemical Engineering engages students in a holistic sense: it's not only necessary to memorize equations, but also to fully understand how they work and to communicate that to others. The academic programs at KTMU are designed to give students the tools that they need to be successful in their chosen field, which includes not only a deep understanding of chemical engineering, but also of teamwork, communication, and critical thinking.
Undergraduate students spend their time split between classrooms and laboratories, learning the basics of chemistry and laboratory science. In their final years, they start independent research projects, leading to their final theses. Each student completes a thesis, and defends it before a panel.
Students who have successfully completed their Bachelor's degree can either find a job in their chosen field or continue their studies in a graduate program. Some students enter graduate programs abroad, while others continue studying at KTMU. Graduate students are even more involved in research projects, while continuing their classroom studies. They work closely with faculty members to complete their thesis, which also must be defended in front of a panel.
