LITERARY EVENING “THEATRE VOYAGE – 4”

On April 15, 2026, the fourth literary evening “Theatre Voyage” was held in the K. Tynystanov Conference Hall at Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, organized by the Department of Simultaneous Interpretation, Faculty of Humanities (Kyrgyz-English Program).

The program of the evening was rich and varied. The first part featured students’ original poetry translations, as well as excerpts from the great Kyrgyz epic “Manas” performed in Kyrgyz, Turkish, and English. Performers dressed in traditional national costumes presented scenes from the epic accompanied by expressive visual displays. Dramatic miniatures inspired by the works of Chingiz Aitmatov were also performed through dance and theatrical action. The program further included a recitation of excerpts from the Old English epic “Beowulf,” reflecting the broad literary and linguistic horizons of the program’s students. A short documentary film about student life at the university was screened and warmly received by the audience.

Two theatrical productions were presented during the evening. Students of the Kyrgyz-Turkish program staged an adaptation of William Groom’s novel “Forrest Gump,” while students of the Kyrgyz-English program performed a stage version of Stephenie Meyer’s “Twilight.” Both productions were prepared at a high level, featuring costumes, musical accompaniment, and dynamic staging on an LED screen backdrop. The event concluded with a contemporary dance performance and a flash mob in which all students enthusiastically took part.

The literary evening vividly demonstrated the creative potential of the students and served as an inspiring platform for developing skills in public speaking, literary translation, and intercultural communication.
