On October 6, 2023, Prof. Dr. Kamil Yalçın Polat, the Head of the General Surgery and Organ Transplantation Center at Istanbul Memorial Bahçelievler Hospital, delivered an interesting conference titled “Current Evaluations of Living/Cadaveric Donor Liver Transplantation” at the Rectorate Conference Hall of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University. The distinguished event was graced by the presence of the Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic, Alymkadyr Beishenaliev, as well as the Rector of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan; Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Mehmet Sezai Turk and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kamalbek Karymshakov; General Secretary Assoc. Prof. Dr. Oktay Ozgul, and medical staff from Kyrgyz-Turkish Friendship Hospital and Martyr Eren Bulbul Healthcare Center, along with academicians, administrative staff, and students who eagerly attended the conference.

The program commenced with the rendition of the national anthems of both Kyrgyzstan and Turkey, fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie. Subsequently, attendees were treated to the documentary film “New Member of the Manas Family: Toktobubu” produced by the TRT documentary team. In addition, a brief overview of Prof. Dr. Kamil Yalçın Polat's illustrious 30-year medical career was shared with the participants, shedding light on his remarkable contributions to the field. During his presentation, Prof. Dr. Kamil Yalçın Polat delivered valuable insights into liver transplantation, encompassing topics such as diagnosis, transplantation indications, liver cirrhosis, and various transplantation and liver replacement techniques. He also presented intriguing facts and statistics related to liver transplant operations on a global scale, emphasizing Turkey's exceptional achievements in this field. Prof. Dr. Kamil Yalçın Polat underscored the critical significance of organ donation, highlighting the escalating number of patients awaiting life-saving organ transplants each year. Simultaneously, he provided the audience with profound insights into the tangible challenges faced within the realm of liver transplantation.
