Informative Meeting on the Quacquarelli Symonds and Times Higher Education Rankings
On October 20, 2023, an informative meeting was held at the Rectorate's Senate Hall of Manas University regarding the university's rankings in Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) and Times Higher Education (THE). The meeting was attended by the Advisor to the Rector, Prof. Dr. Olgun Çiçek, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rita İsmailova, as well as the QS and THE coordinators of Manas University.
Advisor to the Rector, Prof. Dr. Olgun Çiçek highlighted the significant importance of QS and THE rankings for universities. Prof. Dr. Olgun Çiçek emphasized the necessity of providing the requested data in the required format to ensure our success in the QS rankings and underscored that Manas University complies with European standards for higher education, emphasizing the importance of maintaining this success.
In the context of internationalization, Prof. Dr. Olgun Çiçek emphasized the crucial role of effective communication. He highlighted the need to establish new collaborations and engage in international projects, stating, "Communication serves as a bridge for modern higher education institutions and forms the basis of worldwide cooperation. That`s why our university should engage more actively in the international arena and establish close relations with different universities, institutions, and organizations."
Subsequently, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rita İsmailova delivered a comprehensive presentation explaining how the QS and THE rankings operate and outlined the specific data required from universities. The coordinators were provided with detailed instructions on data collection and organization.
During the meeting, it was decided to make improvements in various academic fields, including Social Sciences, Sciences, Veterinary Medicine, and Engineering, to encourage and increase publications in the Scopus database.
The meeting aimed to enhance the academic success of Manas University, support its research activities, and raise its national and international recognition. It concluded as a productive event where significant steps were taken to elevate the university's position in the QS and THE rankings.
