Manas University hosted TOBB Members

TOBB Members, upon the invitation of TOBB Chairman M. Rifat Hisarciklioglu, arrived in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, and visited Manas University on 6 November 2024.

The committee, hosted by Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Recai Dogan, Rector’s Advisor Prof. Dr. Kemal Polat, Dean of the Faculty of Theology Prof. Dr. Hasan Ayik, and Director of International Relations Dr. Kadri Aggun, included TOBB Board Member and Chairman of Aydin Chamber of Commerce Hakan Ulgen, Chairman of Zonguldak Chamber of Commerce and Industry Metin Demir, Chairman of Adiyaman Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mehmet Torunoglu, Chairman of Kastamonu Chamber of Commerce and Industry Oguz Findikoglu, Chairman of Kastamonu Commodity Exchange Serdar Izbeli, Chairman of Corum Commodity Exchange Naki Ozkubat, TOBB Senior Advisor Huseyin Cagri Gurgur, and TOBB Chambers Director Volkan Tufan.

To the committee hosted in Rectorship Senate Hall, Board Member of the TOBB and Chairman of Aydin Chamber of Commerce Hakan Ulgen presided.

The meeting, which started with an introductory film of Manas University, was led by Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Recai Doğan, who emphasized the university's vision and mission, guided by the maxim “More than just a university.” Prof. Dr. Doğan provided information about the education quality and infrastructure of Manas University, which has ranked among the top 1000 universities in the world. He stated that universities can achieve sustained success through collaboration with various sectors, and that such visits lay the groundwork for future collaborations. He also thanked the committee members for their kind visit.

Speaking on behalf of the committee, Chairman Hakan Ulgen drew attention to the progress of relations following the dissolution of the Soviet Union and the subsequent independence of the Turkic republics. He stated: “The process that was initiated with the vision of the late Demirel and the prominent political leaders of that era has started to bear more fruit in recent times. The Organization of Turkic States has taken concrete form. As the Union of Chambers and the entire business community, we are present wherever the Turkish people are, and through our collaborations, we will contribute to strengthening our relations in all areas.”

"Ulgen pointed out that universities, as centers of science, serve society and, consequently, the world. He emphasized the importance of the collaborations between universities and the business world and announced that they'll sign new agreements with Manas University as soon as possible."

At the end of his speech, he thanked to the Board of Manas for their hospitality. He expressed his happiness about visiting Manas University, which sustains Turkish culture on the land of the ancestors and creates a strong bond between the past and the future.

The visit took place in a friendly atmosphere, ended with a commemorative photo session.

Later, the committee visited the Abdulkerim Satuk Bugra Han Mosque, accompanied by the Dean of the Faculty of Prof. Dr. Hasan Ayik.
