“Heading Straight to the Top in International Rankings: A Seminar on the Role of Academics and Strategies” was held at KTMU Kasım Tınıstanov Conference Hall on November 15, 2024.
The seminar was presented by Prof. Dr. Besim Yıldırım, Chairman of the Department of Journalism and Director of Corporate Communication at Atatürk University, and attended by Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan, Vice-Rectors Prof. Dr. Recai Doğan and Prof. Dr. Kamalbek Karımşakov, Rector Advisors Prof. Dr. Kemal Polat and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Seyil Nakimudinova, along with academics and students.
“We Need to Aim for the Better”
Rector of the KTMU Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan delivered the opening speech of the seminar. He emphasised that the university’s next mission is to work more effectively in line with the goals set by the leaders of the two brotherly countries and to bring these goals to life. In his speech Prof Dr. Ceylan, “We will not stop! We will keep going! The greatest responsibility lies on our teaching staff’s shoulders. Our fundamental duty is to provide the highest level of education to our successful and intelligent students and to graduate them successfully,” he stated.
Rector Prof. Dr. Ceylan pointed out the significance of the academic excellence, “We have full trust in the efforts and dedication of our academics. In this field, we will continue our collaboration with universities that conduct similar high-level studies. In this regard, we have invited Prof. Dr. Besim, who is highly appreciated for his valuable studies and achievements,” he stated.
In the seminar, Prof. Dr. Besim Yıldırım provided detailed information about the evaluation criteria of international ranking organisations, how the academic staff should work in accordance with these criteria and the strategies of improving rankings.
Additionally, Prof. Dr. Yıldırım emphasised that improving rankings is not only about academic success, but also requires the educational institution to develop a work plan with an active administration vision and a strategic approach for the academic staff. Prof. Dr. Yıldırım stated, “For the academic staff to be active at an international level, conduct high-quality research, and develop strong collaborations enables universities to rank among the top positions. Working in line with these criteria attracts qualified instructors and students, forming a strong foundation of quality.”
At the end of the seminar, “Certificate of Appreciation” was presented to Prof. Dr. Besim Yıldırım for his valuable information and successful presentation.
