The Second Advisory Council Meeting

“Advisory Council Meeting” was held in the Multifunctional Hall of the Social Facilities Building at Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University on November 19, 2024.

To this important meeting, which was held for the second time, Rector of KTMU Prof Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan, Deputy Rector Prof. Dr. Almaz İbrayev, Vice-Rectors Prof. Dr. Recai Doğan and Prof. Dr. Kamalbek Karımşakov, Rector Advisors Prof. Dr. Kemal Polat and Assoc. Prof. Seyil Najimudinova, along with the members of the Advisory Council, attended the meeting.

Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan, in the opening speech of the meeting, emphasised that KTMU has been progressing with confidence to contribute to society and economy with the proper understanding of the 21st century’s concept of university. Prof. Dr. Ceylan mentioned the significance of the university’s strengths in science and research fields, he stated that strategies for education and research will be reviewed constantly with the support of the Advisory Council members.

Rector Prof. Dr. Ceylan expressed that the university has achieved great success by ranking in the top 1000 in QS World University Rankings and stated that opinions and recommendations of partners carry great importance in making this achievement sustainable.

In his speech, Prof. Dr. Ceylan emphasised that these kinds of meetings are held once a year by the university with the aim of advancing further in research, making scientific contributions and supporting regional development under the motto “More Than Just a University.”

Scholarship Support Will Be Provided to the Successful Students

It was announced that scholarship support will be provided to the successful students by the business people. These scholarships aim to offer important opportunities to students not only for their educational lives but also for their careers. Advisory Council members stated that they believe these kinds of supports will enchance the university’s quality of education and will make significant contributions to the regional development.

Advisory Council Members pointed out the significance of the meeting and emphasised that as long as we act with the same perspective we can overcome any obstacles.

Technopark and Technological Infrastructure Development Projects

In the meeting, it was emphasised that the necessity of implementing technopark projects and strengthening the technological infrastructure in order to increase the university’s scientific and technological strength.  It was stated that these steps will support the university’s innovative and entrepreneurial structure and will contribute to the regional economy.

Local and International Contributions in Education

In the meeting, it was underlined that writing books in Kyrgyz Turkish for higher education and significance of research aimed to developing the Kyrgyz higher education system. It was stated that these initiatives will both raise local education standards and contribute to the common culture heritage of the Turkic world.

Deputy Rector Prof. Dr. Almaz İbrayev stated that the meeting was extremely productive and thanked the Advisory Council members for their valuable recommendations and contributions at the meeting.

Deputy Rector Prof. Dr. İbrayev emphasised the significance of universities having a special status. “Having a special status brings not only academic freedom but also financial freedom. It is the power to determine how the university generates income, how it uses these revenues, where it spends them, and how it saves them. Such great opportunities allow universities to draw a more unique and independent roadmap,” he stated.

Prof. Dr. İbrayev, emphasised the high international status of Manas University, stated that being the only university in Kyrgyzstan to enter the list of the world’s top 1000 universities is both a great honor and a heavy responsibility. “We must work harder for the sustainability of this success and do our best to advance our university,” he stated and expressed his determination.

Prof. Dr. İbrayev also mentioned that he believes the ideas discussed in the Advisory Council Meeting will serve as a guide to increase Manas University’s success on the international stage, added that these kinds of meetings play an important role in the university’s development.

KTMU Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Recai Doğan made evaluations after the Advisory Council Meeting, addressed the purpose of the meeting, and emphasized how well universities align with the needs of society and how this alignment affects the success of the university. In his speech, Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Doğan stated, “A university born out of a need becomes more successful the more it aligns with the needs of society.”

Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Doğan addressed the valuable suggestions presented during the meeting, stated that collaborations will be made with the relevant faculties based on the opinions of the board members and efforts will be initiated to turn these suggestions into concrete actions. Additionally, Prof. Dr. Doğan emphasized that continuous communication will be maintained with the Advisory Board members, stated that such consultations provide significant guidance in the university’s development journey.

It was emphasized that Manas University, which proudly carries the name of Manas, the longest epic in the world and one of the most important in the Turkic world, plays a vital role as a golden bridge between Turkic states and ranks among the top universities in the world. It was agreed that the necessary support would be provided to implement the projects that were discussed.
