Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University at the International Turkic World Engineering Congress

On December 6, 2024, the International Turkic World Engineering Congress, organized by the Association of Turkish Engineers was held at the Conference Hall of the Information and Communication Technologies Authority in Ankara.

The event brought together prominent figures, including Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Ömer Fatih Sayan; President of the Association of Turkish Engineers Yaşar Yekebağcı; Deputy Chairman of Memur-Sen Hacı Bayram Tonbul; Chairman of Turkey-Public-Union Önder Kahveci; Member of the Presidential Science, Technology, and Innovation Policies Board Osman Coşkun; and AK Party Deputy Chairman Belgin Uygur. Invited speakers, scientists, and academicians from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan also participated in the congress.

In his address, Deputy Minister Ömer Fatih Sayan highlighted the importance of channeling advancements in engineering towards building a stronger future through Turkic-Islamic unity and shared cultural values. He emphasized that a Turkic World united by common goals and values would be better equipped to confront various challenges effectively.

The congress also featured contributions from Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, with Prof. Dr. Mirbek Turduev, Head of the Department of Electric and Electronics Engineering, attending as an invited speaker. Prof. Dr. Turduev delivered a presentation titled “Smart Optimization Methods in the Design of Photonic Structures: Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning”. In his speech, he underscored the transformative role of artificial intelligence and machine learning in advancing the complex design processes of photonic structures. He explained how AI-based algorithms surpass the limitations of traditional methods, enhancing the efficiency of photonic design and enabling groundbreaking innovations in areas such as optical cloaking, photonic jets, and bent light beams. Prof. Dr. Turduev also introduced the educational and research initiatives of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, sharing the university's contributions to engineering with the audience.

The event explored the contributions of key figures from Turkish-Islamic civilization, such as Al-Farabi and Al-Jazari, to the field of engineering. Discussions highlighted Al-Farabi’s mathematical problem-solving methods and the influence of Al-Jazari's mechanical principles on modern engineering applications.

Furthermore, the congress emphasized the significance of the “National Technology Initiative” spearheaded by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, which has driven international achievements by Turkish engineers. Successes in UAV and UCAV technologies, domestic satellites, 5G technology, and renewable energy projects across the Turkic World were prominently showcased. The speakers stressed the need to strengthen collaboration among engineers in the Turkic World, noting that such unity would foster economic and technological independence.

The congress was deemed a crucial step in enhancing cooperation among Turkic engineers and creating new opportunities for future innovations.
