The Department of Religious Studies is one of the two important departments of the Faculty of Theology of the Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University together with Islamic Studies. Our department, which started teaching in 2011-2012, is a 4-year undergraduate program after the Preparatory Course. The languages of instruction are Turkish and Kyrgyz. Arabic is mainly taught as a foreign language. Education in our department is carried out in accordance with the standards set by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic, and in accordance with the regulations of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University.
In Department of Religious Studies, scientific disciplines related to religious sciences such as history of religions, religion and culture, philosophy, philosophy of religion, psychology of religion, phenomenology of religion, morality and values, anthropology of religion; Islamic disciplines such as tafsir, hadith, kalam, history of sects, Islamic jurisprudence, Islamic history; General and religious education courses such as educational psychology, measurement and evaluation, sociology of education, introduction to education, special teaching methods, religious education, religious oratory, and Turkish, Kyrgyz, Arabic and Russian languages are taught. Thus, it is aimed that our graduates will be competent in the field of Islamic disciplines, interpret the knowledge they have gained in this field in terms of today's disciplines, and have the knowledge, skills and competence to reflect their knowledge and skills in the field they will work. The graduates will take diplomas of the Kyrgyz and Turkish Republics. The students of our department graduate by obtaining a State Diploma that authorizes teaching in Kyrgyzstan, and they can teach religious history, Adep and religious courses in public schools. In Turkey, they can become a Religious Culture and Moral Knowledge course teacher in primary and secondary schools. In addition to these, they can also work in the Religious Commission and Muftiyat in Kyrgyzstan and in the Presidency of Religious Affairs in Turkey.
Our students studying in our department have the opportunity to gain experience abroad by attending a summer training (internship) in Turkey at least once during their education.
After graduation, our department students can do postgraduate education in other countries, especially in Kyrgyzstan and Turkey.
