Students of the Department of Religious Studies cover a wide variety of subjects, including the history of religion, religious pedagogy, religious philosophy, and the sociology of religion. In the preparatory year, students study Kyrgyz and Turkish, the languages in which classes are held. Students also study Arabic as a foreign language throughout their education.
Graduates of the Department of Religious Studies find work in the following fields: teaching religious courses in school, or working in the governments, mosques and madrassas. They can also work as religious experts in any organization. Students can also complete a double degree program and recieve diplomas in two subjects. Students can also work as interns to gain experience in professional fields.
During their studies, students complete internships in religious and social organizations, which gives them the opportunity to put their skills to the test and make professional contacts that help them find jobs. Students can complete internships in other countries, and win grants and scholarships.
Students must complete 158 credit hours in order to complete the Bachelor's degree, which corresponds to 240 ECTS credit hours. Of these hours, no more than 30 can be elective courses. The Bachelor's degree takes four to seven years to complete.
Students of the Department of Religious Studies have an opportunity to study in universities in Turkey through exchange programs.
Additionally, the best students are offered fully-funded internships in Turkey. This includes travel expenses, food, and housing.
Students who successfully complete the Bachelor's degree program are qualified for careers in the field of theology, or for research or further study.
