Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University Participates in the CAPIA International Project

Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University`s Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Associate Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sezer Bozkush Kahyaoglu continues her scientific studies as a project consultant in the CAPIA (Continuous Auditing in Public Sector Internal Auditing) Joint Project, registered at the University of South Africa (UNISA) and supported by the Ministry of Finance of South Africa. During her visit to South Africa, she was there from 10 to 21 April 2023. She presented her work titled “Artificial Intelligence Perspective for Smart Auditing in the Public Sector” as an example of effective practice at the public and media conference organized within the framework of the 150th anniversary of UNISA.

UNISA is the coordinator of the CAPIA (Continuous Auditing in Public Sector Internal Auditing) Project. This project is strategically significant for the Republic of South Africa's institutionalization and digitalization of audit and risk management business processes. It has infrastructure based on block-chain and artificial intelligence according to international standards. In addition, contributing universities are Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, University of Johannesburg, University of Pretoria, Tshwane University of Technology, Central University of Technology, and Canada Revenue Agency in Ottawa.

Since 2020, when the project started, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sezer Bozkush Kahyaoglu, who is the project leader within the framework of knowledge and experience sharing, also contributes as an Academic Associate of the UNISA Financial Governance Department with the status of “Extraordinarious Professor”. With this academic visit, our university was featured in the South African media and attracted much attention.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sezer Bozkush Kahyaoglu and the project team made a presentation to the managers of the Auditor-General of South Africa (AGSA) about the project activities based on remote auditing techniques and shared useful information. In this meeting, decisions were taken regarding the scope of fieldwork and research activities planned by the Auditor-General of South Africa.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sezer Bozkush Kahyaoglu, who is also a Streering Committee member at the Research Platform of the Good Governance Academy, which carries out its activities under the chairmanship of Prof. Meryn King, the world leader in Corporate Governance and Integrated Reporting Standards, organized a webinar on "Good Governance through Continuous Assurance" and introduced the CAPIA project and the project team. Participants from 34 countries attended the event, which attracted great interest.

In addition, an informative seminar on the academic book writing process was organized for the book study titled "CONTINUOUS AUDITING WITH AI IN PUBLIC SECTOR", which was edited by Assoc. Prof. Sezer Bozkush Kahyaoglu and Prof. Lourens Erasmus, whose chapters were written by the CAPIA project team and Phd students. This work will be published by the International Taylor & Francis Publishing House when the writing phase is completed. This seminar was attended by a large number of UNISA lecturer members and experience sharing was provided in the academic book publishing process.

With this activity, a significant contribution is made to the internationalization of our university and the recognition of Kyrgyzstan by various countries of the world.
