In a remarkable display of cinematic excellence, "Shambala," the brainchild of People's Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic and renowned film director Artykpai Suiundukov, has clinched top honors in six prestigious categories at the Ak Ilbirs National Film Awards. The Ak Ilbirs Awards, akin to the Oscars in Kyrgyzstan, have been lauded for their role in championing local filmmaking talent, recognizing their accomplishments, and fostering the growth of the country's burgeoning film industry.
The gala event, celebrating the XI-XII Ak Ilbirs National Film Awards, unfolded with grandeur at Manas Cinema, with the spotlight firmly on "Shambala." The film's exceptional contributions to the cinematic arts secured victories in the following coveted categories:
"Shambala," a cinematic masterpiece inspired by the iconic work of Kyrgyz writer Chyngyz Aitmatov, "The White Ship," has not only left an indelible mark on Kyrgyz cinema but has also captured the attention of the global film community. The film has been nominated for an Oscar in the esteemed category of "Best Foreign Film" and has already secured the prestigious Nika Award in Russia. Moreover, "Shambala" boasts a remarkable tally of 47 international awards from film festivals spanning Asia, Europe, and America. This triumphant run has catapulted the film into the annals of Kyrgyz cinema history, with a staggering total of 53 accolades to its name.
