On October 5, 2023, Kyrgyzstan celebrated the “Day for Disaster Risk Reduction” with great enthusiasm. The State Center for the Training of Rescuers of the Kyrgyz Republic recognized its rescuers with special professional diplomas and certificates at a special award ceremony held in Belovodskoe.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of several esteemed dignitaries, including Boobek Azhikeev, the Minister of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic; Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan, Rector of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University; Prof. Dr. Recai Dogan, Advisor to the Rector and Director of the High School of Foreign Languages; Salia Vaiskanova, Vice Chairman; Fatih Bashkapan, Head of the Language Preparatory Department; as well as the families of the dedicated rescuers from the State Center for the Training of Rescuers and members of the Press and Public Relations Office.
In his opening speech, Minister Boobek Azhikeev expressed his gratitude to the rescue teams and highlighted their invaluable role in handling emergency situations. He also praised the role of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University in fostering cultural ties between the Kyrgyz Republic and Turkey, emphasizing the university's efforts in strengthening the linguistic bonds between the two nations. Minister Boobek Azhikeev acknowledged the significant contribution of Manas University to the Kyrgyz-Turkish brotherhood and friendship, recognizing their dedication to providing quality education to Kyrgyz youth while instilling a sense of history and identity.
As a symbol of appreciation for his dedication to military-civilian cooperation, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic presented Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan with a special medal during the ceremony. In his response, Rector Alpaslan Ceylan expressed his admiration for the Kyrgyz rescue teams' selfless efforts during the February 6 earthquake, emphasizing the importance of remembering their heroism, which serves as a testament to volunteerism and success. Rector expressed his hope for a world where such disasters would never occur again, not only for the Turkic World but for all of humanity.
Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan highlighted the significance of the cooperation between Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic. He shared that the university had successfully taught Turkish language courses to 47 students at the A1 level, noting the students' keen interest in these lessons.Throughout the ceremony, young rescuers from various regions were honored for their contributions. The event concluded with a ceremonial performance by the Ministry of Defense soldiers.
