Opening Ceremony of the 2023-2024 Academic Year

On October 16, 2023, the grand Opening Ceremony of the 2023-2024 Academic Year at Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University took place at the Kyrgyz National Philharmonic, named after Toktogul Satylganov. The program was attended by various distinguished guests, including Education Counsellor Kurshat Dulkadir, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Bishkek Latif Seyfeddin Oglu Gandilov, Representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as representatives from the Embassies of Kazakhstan and Hungary, TIKA Bishkek Coordinator Mehmet Bodur, Chief Physician of Kyrgyz-Turkish Friendship Hospital İlker Ayrık, and Husnu Bircan, Director of Maarif Education Complex. Notable attendees also included Roza Aitmatova, the sister of the renowned Kyrgyz writer Chyngyz Aitmatov, and prominent media personalities such as ATV Technical Director Harun Urgancı and TRT News Coordinator Zihni Oguz Akın. The event was graced by the presence of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University's Rector, Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan, Deputy Rector Dr. Baktygul Kalambekova, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Mehmet Sezai Turk and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kamalbek Karymshakov, along with numerous academicians, association leaders, members of the press, and students.

The event commenced with the heartfelt rendition of the national anthems of both Kyrgyzstan and Turkey, symbolizing the strong bond between the two countries. Subsequently, an introduction film that showcased the essence of Manas University was screened. The audience was treated to inspiring videos showcasing Manas University graduates who are now achieving success in various countries around the world.

Deputy Rector of Manas University, Dr. Baktygul Kalambekova took the stage to deliver the opening speech, expressing profound pride as they embarked on a new academic year. Deputy Rector extended her gratitude to all individuals from the government, public, and educational sectors who had played vital roles in the establishment, efficient operation, and growth of Manas University, an institution exemplifying friendship and cooperation. Dr. Baktygul Kalambekova also emphasized the university's commitment to providing high-quality education.

Rector of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan highlighted the university's significant contribution to the robust brotherly relationship between Kyrgyzstan and Turkey. Rector shared the university's aspiration to climb higher in international rankings and proudly stated that Manas University ranked among the 'top 300 universities in the world' for language education. Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan underlined the university's student-centric approach and improvements made in dormitory and dining hall facilities, along with efforts to enhance students' social activities and living spaces. Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan urged all faculty members and students to actively participate in research projects.

Additionally, Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan emphasized Manas University's status as the university with the most laboratories in Central Asia. Rector encouraged students, acknowledging their role in preserving the glory of the past, saying, "You are our future, and you are the ones who will carry on the legacy. You are receiving top-notch education in line with the university's mission, and you are adding love and value to our homeland, nation, and humanity." Rector concluded his speech by extending his best wishes for the 2023-2024 academic year.

The Opening Ceremony of the 2023-2024 Academic Year at Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University was marked by unforgettable moments. One of the highlights was the opening lecture by Roza Aitmatova, the sister of the famous writer of the Turkic World, Chyngyz Aitmatov. In her lecture titled "The Aitmatov Family," Roza Aitmatova shared intriguing insights into significant events in her family's history.

Roza Aitmatova recounted the poignant story of the Aitmatov family, saying, "Through the archival materials of Torokul Aitmatov, I discovered the interconnected fates of our father and brother. The father laid the foundations, and the son developed and expanded this legacy." She emphasized the valuable opportunity for students to have access to Kyrgyz and Turkish courses at Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University. At the conclusion of her lecture, Roza Aitmatova wished the students success in the academic year and expressed her gratitude. The ceremony continued in an emotional atmosphere, and the 87-year-old Roza Aitmatova was presented with flowers and a gift by the Rector, Deputy Rector, and Vice Rectors in appreciation of her role in imparting an important lesson about the past to the youth.

Following the opening lecture, İrfan Gurdal, a prominent figure in the Turkish World, graced the stage, accompanied by mesmerizing folk melodies and captivating visual effects. He serenaded the audience with beautiful and emotive folk songs from the Turkish World.

The event concluded with Rector Alpaslan Ceylan presented flowers to Toktobubu, a new member of the Manas family, and her family. As Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University embarked on the 2023-2024 Academic Year with great hope, students, faculty members, and guests shared the excitement of stepping into a new academic year with joy and optimism.
