Mustafa Kemal Atatürk Was Commemorated at Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University

The commemoration of the 85th anniversary of the passing of the great leader Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk commenced with a wreath-laying ceremony organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Bishkek at Ataturk Park. Following the wreath presentation program, the Commemoration of Atatürk program was held at the Rectorate Conference Hall of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University on November 10, 2023.

The program was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye in Bishkek Ahmet Sadyk Dogan and members of the Embassy, TRNC Representative Mehmet Davulcu, TIKA Bishkek Coordinator Mehmet Bodur, Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University`s Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan, Deputy Rector Dr. Baktygul Kalambekova, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Mehmet Sezai Turk and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kamalbek Karymshakov, General Secretary Assoc. Prof. Dr. Oktay Ozgul, President of the Association of Ahiska Turks Atamsha Dursunov, academicians and students.

The program commenced with the national anthems of both countries. Then, a short documentary fılm about Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was shown.

Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University's Deputy Rector, Dr. Baktygul Kalambekova highlighted Atatürk`s role as an influential leader, leaving an  indeliable mark not only on Türkiye`s  history but also on the history of humanity. Deputy Rector Kalambekova emphasized that Atatürk stands as an exemplary figure for the entire Turkic World.

Additionally, Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan underscored the challenges faced during the Turkish nation's liberation struggle, stating, “We have consistently kept our hope for the future alive, carrying historical, spiritual, and linguistic consciousness to the present day.” Prof. Dr. Ceylan provided an assessment of the Turkish Historical Society and the Turkish Language Society, considering them crucial components of Atatürk's legacy. He emphasized their significance in shaping the historical consciousness and language of the Turkish nation. Prof. Dr. Ceylan further asserted that Manas University will persist in contributing to the unity and solidarity of the Turkish nation in the future.

Following the protocol speeches, İrfan Gurdal performed Atatürk's favorite folk songs, creating emotional moments for the participants.

After the mini-recital, the panel titled “Atatürk in All His Aspects,” chaired by Prof. Dr. Recai Dogan commenced. The panel speakers included Prof. Dr. Mehmet Sezai Turk, who presented on “Atatürk in the Press,” Prof. Dr. Çagatay Akengin, who discussed “Atatürk's Understanding of Art,” and Assist. Prof. Dr. Roza Abdykulova, who elaborated on “Atatürk as a Commander, Statesman, and Thinker.”

Prof. Dr. Mehmet Sezai Turk, the first speaker of the panel, provided a detailed analysis of the reflections of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in the press. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Sezai Turk shared important information about Atatürk's relationship with the media and recounted his initial experiences in journalism. Drawing attention to Atatürk's interest with the press, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Sezai Turk conveyed Atatürk's interactions with the media and shared significant memories in this field with the participants.

Prof. Dr. Çagatay Akengin, the second speaker of the panel, emphasized the pivotal role of art in social transformation. Prof. Dr. Akengin highlighted the value that Atatürk placed on art and referenced Atatürk's poem “Where is the Truth?”

The third speaker of the panel, Assist. Prof. Dr. Roza Abdykulova provided an evaluation of Atatürk from three different perspectives as a commander, statesman and thinker. She emphasized that Türkiye experienced a profound transformation in the modernization process due to Atatürk`s revolutionary ideas and leadership.

In conclusion, Participation Certificates were awarded to the panel participants at the end of the program.
