On November 17, 2023, a seminar on “International Animated Films” was held at Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University as part of the Bishkek International Film Festival, scheduled to take place between November 17 – 21, 2023.
İsmail Fidan, the producer and director of the animated kids film "Rafadan Tayfa," emphasized the continuous development of the animation industry. Ismail Fidan shared that he initiated his journey with the movie “The Sea Case” and is presently engaged in various animation projects. During the seminar, İsmail Fidan discussed both the advantages and challenges encountered in creating animated films. He cautioned aspiring individuals in this field that success is unattainable without gaining valuable experience.
Rector, Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan congratulated the seminar participants on Kyrgyz Cinema Day. He highlighted that the Turkish Cinema Week, organized in celebration of the 95th anniversary of Kyrgyz writer Chyngyz Aitmatov's birth, is part of the Bishkek International Film Festival. Prof. Dr. Ceylan noted that Türkiye, as the second-largest exporter of TV series worldwide after the USA, actively promotes its culture through globally distributed TV series and films.
Vice Rector, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Sezai Turk praised İsmail Fidan's talent and provided a brief overview of the renowned director's career. He expressed joy at having industry experts visit Manas University to share their experiences. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Sezai Turk announced that, throughout Turkish Cinema Week, the university would host interesting seminars and workshops featuring Kyrgyz and Turkish filmmakers.
The seminar concluded with students receiving answers to their questions. “Rafadan Tayfa,” a Turkish cartoon film directed by Ismail Fidan and written by Ozan Civit, premiered in 2014, portraying Turkish culture from the 1980s and 1990s on the screens.
