On November 27, 2023, the conference on Mevlana and Mevlevism was held at the Rectorate Conference Hall of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University to commemorate the 750th Anniversary of Mevlana.

The conference led by M. Fatih Çıtlak, was attended by Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University's Deputy Rector, Dr. Baktygul Kalambekova; Vice Rector, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Sezai Turk; Chief Advisor to the Rector, Prof. Dr. Recai Dogan; General Secretary, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Oktay Ozgul; Department of History's Lecturer, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nezahat Ceylan, as well as other academicians and students.

At the beginning of the conference, M. Fatih Çıtlak presented fascinating insights about Mevlana and Mevlevism. Additionally, he left a lasting impression on the audience by providing in-depth information on Sufism.

M. Fatih Çıtlak, while explaining the place of Kudum in Sufism, said, “The word meaning of Kudum comes from seniority. This term, which extends from the past to the present, expresses an inner journey of man, just as in Mevlana's teachings. Kudum is the heritage of the past, and this heritage forms the basis of Sufism.” M. Fatih Çıtlak elucidated the history of this symbol to the participants and provided them with a historical and spiritual perspective.

Postnishin M. Fatih Çıtlak shared details about the flamboyant outfits of the whirling dervishes with the participants who took the stage at the end of the conference. He also explained the meaning of their movements to the audience within the framework of Mevlana's teachings. In his speech, M. F. Çıtlak said, “Sema does not mean the sky. Sema explains the love of Allah to those who hear it from their hearts. Sema is actually an act of hearing. We should listen to the love of Allah from the heart of the whirling dervish and experience this peaceful moment.” The whirling dervishes, who performed at the end of the program, fascinated the audience.

This special event offered an opportunity to delve deeper into Mevlana's insights and the Mevlevi tradition. Participants enjoyed witnessing the spiritual depth of Mevlana's teachings.
