On January 17, 2024, the European Union trainees led by the Head of the Cooperation Section of the EU Delegation to the Kyrgyz Republic Hans Farnhammer visited our university to familiarize themselves with Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, identify potential areas for cooperation and explore Erasmus projects.

The visit took place at Manas University's Senate Meeting Hall and was attended by KTMU Rector, Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan; Vice Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kamalbek Karymshakov; Advisor to the Rector and International Relations Office Coordinator, Prof. Dr. Olgun Cicek; Advisor to the Rector, Prof. Dr. Serhat Burmaoglu; Secretary General, Prof. Dr. Oktay Ozgul; Head of the Cooperation Section of the European Union Delegation to the Kyrgyz Republic Hans Farnhammer; National Erasmus+ Office Coordinator of the Kyrgyz Republic Gulnara Isaeva, 12 trainees from the European Union and members of the university's Press and Public Relations Office.

The opening speech of the meeting was delivered by the Advisor to the Rector and International Relations Office Coordinator, Prof. Dr. Olgun Cicek, who expressed pleasure at the delegation's visit to Manas University. Prof. Dr. Olgun Cicek stated, “This year has been declared the Internationalization year for our university. Therefore, we are delighted to welcome the first international delegation of the year to our university.”

At the meeting was shown an introductory film about our university. During the visit Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan, the Rector of the Manas University emphasized the significance placed on Erasmus exchange programs. Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan stated, “Manas University stands out not only for its scientific achievements but also for the importance it places on cultural diversity. We are happy to see you at our university, and the doors are always open to you.”

Hans Farnhammer, the Head of the Cooperation Section of the EU Delegation to the Kyrgyz Republic, expressed gratitude to Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan on behalf of the delegation. He conveyed the delegation's joy in visiting the university and said, “Thank you for welcoming us to Manas University. Our trainees are here to explore one of the best universities in Kyrgyzstan and to connect with your university students. The Erasmus program is a very important collaboration platform for us as well as for the world. I would like to highlight that Manas University actively participates in this program. We are aware that your university offers education in Kyrgyz and Turkish, making a significant contribution to the development of the Kyrgyz language in the country.” Hans Farnhammer also pointed out that the university's multilingual education approach contributes to linguistic diversity in the region, acting as a cultural bridge.

At the meeting, Vice Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kamalbek Karymshakov provided information about the programs at Manas University, while Advisor to the Rector Prof. Dr. Serhat Burmaoglu shared insights with the participants about the privileges of being a graduate from Manas University and the advantages of securing a job after graduation.

Throughout the meeting, emphasis was placed on Manas University's free education model, the scholarship opportunities it offers to successful students, its ranking among the world's top 1000 universities, and the multicultural educational environment it provides.

Towards the end of the meeting, trainees asked questions that interested them and received detailed information about our university. Special gifts were also distributed to the EU Delegation and memorable moments were captured with souvenir photos. The EU delegation, led by Hans Farnhammer, visited the Faculties of Engineering and Veterinary Medicine, as well as the Manas Television studio. During the visit, the delegation had the opportunity to closely observe the university's successful initiatives in Erasmus projects, language education, and cultural exchange.
