Manas University's High School of Foreign Languages emphasized the importance of language and cultural heritage by hosting various events within the scope of “International Mother Language Day” to highlight the significance of language and share cultural richness.
Firstly, an essay contest entitled “The Importance of the Mother Tongue” took place on February 14, 2024. Sixty-three students participated in the contest, which aimed to raise awareness of the active use of the Kyrgyz language.
Additionally, an online program titled “We are a nation thanks to our language” was conducted. This program, held on February 15, featured Kiyal Toktonalieva and Altynbek İsmailov, lecturers of the Department of Language Instruction at the High School of Foreign Languages. They presented comprehensive information on the history of "Mother Language Day", the importance of the mother tongue, and the current state of the Kyrgyz language. Lecturer and poet Altynbek Ismailov performed poems on the theme of “Mother Tongue.” The event was attended by the academic staff of the High School of Foreign Languages and approximately 1000 students.
Manas University once again demonstrated its determination to preserve language and cultural heritage through the “Mother Language Day” events.
