Special Training Program for Members of the Press in Cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic
On March 16, 2024, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic and Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University organized a one-day comprehensive training program for press members of higher education institutions. The training was held at the Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University`s Rectorate Conference Hall.
Minister of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic, Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva; Deputy Rector of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, Dr. Baktygul Kalambekova; Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Mehmet Sezai Turk and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kamalbek Karymshakov; General Secretary, Prof. Dr. Oktay Ozgul; Advisors to the Rector, Prof. Dr. Recai Dogan and Prof. Dr. Serhat Burmaoglu, as well as members of the press of higher education institutions in Kyrgyzstan attended the training program.
The program started with the singing of national anthems and continued with opening speeches. Minister of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic, Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva emphasized the importance of the event and thanked the participants of the training. "Today, it is evident that graduates from Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University are highly sought-after specialists, not only within Kyrgyzstan but also in the global labor market. We are proud of this situation. I can honestly say that KTMU graduates are well-equipped, successful, and enterprising in the business world."
In addition, Minister Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva noted that they were pleased to bring together members of the press from universities in Kyrgyzstan at Manas University for a useful and comprehensive training program.
Prof. Dr. Mehmet Sezai Turk, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Communication, emphasized the importance and achievements of Manas University. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Sezai Turk touched upon the prominent achievements of the Faculty of Communication, as well as the fact that Manas University is the first and only university from Kyrgyzstan to enter the World University Rankings. Stating that they offer internship opportunities to students in leading media organizations in Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan, Prof. Dr. Turk emphasized the importance of communication and talked about the benefits of the education to the participants.
The two-session training program provided a platform for Manas University's faculty members and experts from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic to share their valuable knowledge with members of the press.
In the first session, Manas University's faculty members, Assist. Prof. Dr. Gulzada Stanalieva and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erdogan Akman, provided valuable information on "How to Write the Best PR Text?" and "News Writing Techniques and New Trends in News Writing", respectively. Media specialist Tagcana Aidaralieva made a presentation on "PR Strategy for the University". Additionally, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shirin Kostyuk from Kyrgyz State University, presented "Stop the Broadcast! Etiquette for On-Air Conduct ", providing useful information to the participants.
In the second session, Dr. Gokcan Chelik, Director of Press and Public Relations of the Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, presented "Specialization in Social Media: The Subtleties of Content and Strategy", while Gulmira Umotalieva, Head of the Information Policy Department of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic, made a presentation on "Crisis? Threat or Opportunity? Communication in Times of Crisis".
At the conclusion of the training program, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic presented a certificate of appreciation to the Rector of Manas University, Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan, for his contribution to the event.
Certificates of appreciation were also presented to the faculty members, and certificates were distributed to the participants. Within the scope of the program, members of the press had the opportunity to visit Manas University's Manas Television.
This important event was recorded as a significant step towards increasing the professional competence of members of the press.
