Manas University is the First and Only University from Kyrgyzstan to Receive Four Stars in QS Stars University Ratings

Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University was awarded four stars in the QS Stars University Ratings. On May 13, 2024, the certificate presentation ceremony held at the Rectorate of the Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University. The ceremony was attended by the Rector of Manas University, Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan; Deputy Rector, Prof. Dr. Almaz Ibraev; QS Central Asia Director Sergei Khristoliubov; Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Mehmet Sezai Turk and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kamalbek Karymshakov; General Secretary, Prof. Dr. Oktay Ozgul and members of the Senate.

Stating that Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University is the first and only university in Kyrgyzstan to be included in the QS World University Ranking and QS Stars University Ratings, QS Central Asia Director Sergei Khristoliubov presented the four-star QS Stars certificate to Manas University's Rector, Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan.

Noting that four stars is a great achievement, Sergei Khristolyubov emphasized, “In general, it takes four to five years to go from three stars to four stars, while Manas University received four stars in its first application. This is a great achievement. Attaining four stars demands significant time and commitment from university. In this context, I would like to congratulate the Rector of Manas University, Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan; Coordinator of Institutional Data and International Relations Office, Prof. Dr. Olgun Cicek; the senior management of the university and you, esteemed academicians, who have worked with great devotion. Without a professional team like you, such success would not have emerged.

30 Criteria for QS Stars

Explaining the significance of the four stars, Sergei Khristoliubov said, “The QS rating is highly regarded worldwide. Educational institutions are evaluated based on 9 criteria here. There are 11 criteria in the Asian rating, which Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University participates in. Subject rankings are determined by 5 criteria. In the QS Stars evaluation system, educational institutions are assessed across 30 different criteria. These include aspects such as teaching quality, academic staff, scientific research, internationalization, employment opportunities, social responsibility activities, student accommodations, and sports and cultural offerings.”

5 Stars on 2 Criteria

Director Sergei Khristoliubov underlined that KTMU received four stars on average, but five stars in the internationalization and employment criteria, which is a great success for the educational institution.

In his speech at the certificate presentation ceremony, Rector of Manas University Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan expressed his pride by sincerely thanking everyone who contributed to this great success. Emphasizing his happiness to share this meaningful moment, Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan expressed his gratitude to all academic and administrative staff, students, and everyone who supported them.
