Seminar: “The Famous Turkmen Poet of the 18th Century Magtymguly Pyragy”
On May 15, 2024, the seminar titled “The Famous Turkmen Poet of the 18th Century Mahtymguly Pyragy” was organized by the Department of Turkology of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University.
The Head of the Department of Turkology, Prof. Dr. Ozan Yılmaz, faculty members, and many students participated in the event, which was part of the Department of Turkology Seminar Series.
In the seminar presented by the Attaché of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Bishkek Bahar Berdieva, detailed information about Mahtymguly Pyragy’s life, works, and his place and importance in Turkish literature was shared, and Pyragy’s literary heritage was discussed. Participants had the opportunity to learn more about Mahtymguly Pyragy, one of the famous poet of the Turkmen literature.
This event was an important example of the efforts of the Department of Turkology to bring the common cultural heritage of the Turkic world to a wider audience. The seminar concluded with a question and answer session.
