The “Turkic World Digital Citizenship Project,” one of the largest voluntary socio-cultural initiatives of the Turkic World, successfully concluded after 14 weeks of online training. Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, one of the key stakeholders, hosted the “Science Camp,” a significant part of the project, from September 2-6, 2024.
Successful students from various cities and universities across Türkiye had the opportunity to attend seminars and lectures delivered by experienced and respected academicians throughout the camp. The event began with a seminar titled “The Role of Language and Literature in the Construction of Turkic Civilization,” presented by Prof. Dr. Ozan Yılmaz, Head of the Department of Turkology at Manas University. It was followed by a seminar on “Sufism of the Turkic World” by Prof. Dr. Recai Doğan, Director of the High School of Foreign Languages and Faculty Member of the Faculty of Theology.
On the final day of the camp, Prof. Dr. Oktay Özgül, General Secretary of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, met with the Science Camp participants. During the meeting in the Senate Meeting Hall, Prof. Dr. Özgül expressed his pleasure in hosting the students and emphasized, “This is the land where Yusuf Khass Hajib was born, where Kutadgu Bilig and the Epic of Manas were written. These lands hold great significance in Turkish history.” He emphasized the crucial role of Manas University and the Turkic World Digital Citizenship Project in raising a well-informed and aware younger generation that appreciates the importance of the Turkic World. He advised the students and emphasized that Manas University has a mission and vision for the future of the Turkic World, with the slogan, “More Than Just a University.” Prof. Dr. Özgül concluded by stating that the university will always be happy to support the conscious and qualified students of the Turkic World.
