On October 24, 2024, the Department of Turkology of Manas University organized the seminar as part of the “Quarterly Celebration of the Kyrgyz State Language.”
The speaker, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Taalaybek Abdiev, a lecturer in the Department of Turkology, presented on the historical development and scientific aspects of the Kyrgyz language in his presentation titled “Etymological Studies.” He discussed how place names have evolved within their historical and cultural contexts, highlighting the richness of the Kyrgyz language by examining the origins of various idioms. Additionally, he provided examples illustrating how the meanings of words have shifted over time and the relationships between the Kyrgyz language and other Turkic languages.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Taalaybek Abdiev emphasized the importance of etymological studies for understanding the history of a language, noting that exploring the origins of the language contributes to a deeper understanding of cultural identity. His comprehensive presentation received high praise from attendees.
At the end of the seminar, the Head of the Department of Turkology, Prof. Dr. Ozan Yılmaz highlighted the significance of events like this one in preserving and passing on the language and cultural heritage to future generations. He presented Assoc. Prof. Dr. Taalaybek Abdiev with a “Certificate of Appreciation” for his successful presentation.
