Manas University Hosts the Exhibition “From Master to Apprentice” with the Participation of Minister Altynbek Maksutov

The group exhibition titled “From Master to Apprentice”, organized by Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University's Department of Painting, was presented to art enthusiasts on November 21, 2024. Held at the Kurmanjan Datka Art Gallery, the exhibition brought together distinguished figures from the art world and a wide audience of art lovers.

The opening ceremony was attended by Minister of Culture, Information, Sports, and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic Altynbek Maksutov; Rector of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan; Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Prof. Dr. Kürşad Gülbeyaz; along with academicians, students, and art enthusiasts.

In his opening remarks, Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic Maksutov emphasized the importance of the exhibition as a meaningful initiative aimed at preserving cultural heritage for future generations. He highlighted the role of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University as an internationally respected institution that contributes significantly to art and culture. Minister Maksutov stated: “Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University has become a globally respected educational institution. I extend my gratitude to the entire team, led by Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan, for presenting such a valuable exhibition to our youth, the architects of our future, in this art gallery of the university.”

He also noted the importance of cultural continuity, saying: “Culture is the bond that connects generations. It is our shared responsibility to pass on this heritage to younger generations. I thank the artists who contribute to this legacy through their exceptional works and wish them continued success.”

In his speech, Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan emphasized the crucial role of education in the development of art. He expressed his aspirations for the university's students, stating: “Our greatest goal is to see the youth we educate become leading individuals and academicians at our university. I deeply appreciate the dedication of my esteemed academicians in achieving this vision.”

He further underlined the essence of mentorship in artistic mastery, remarking: “Certain skills can only be achieved under the guidance of a master. Art is at the forefront of such skills. While education provides the foundation, one cannot truly become a master without mentorship.”

Director of the Institute of Architecture and Design at Kyrgyz State Technical University Saltanat Kocobaeva highlighted the transformative role of culture in human life. She noted: “When culture enriches a person’s inner world, it leads to the creation of remarkable works. Through such initiatives, larger projects will emerge in our country, providing opportunities for our brightest talents to develop.”

Speaking on behalf of the contributing artists, a lecturer from Kyrgyz State Technical University’s Institute of Architecture and Design shared the origins of the exhibition: “This exhibition is the culmination of a project launched a year ago to elevate Kyrgyz art and support emerging talent. It has once again demonstrated that art transcends borders.” The lecturer also mentioned ongoing collaboration discussions with Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Türkiye.

At the conclusion of the event, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Prof. Dr. Kürşad Gülbeyaz presented certificates of appreciation to the participating artists.

The group exhibition, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Kara-Kyrgyz Autonomous Region, featured the works of renowned Kyrgyz artists, including Stalbek Toktoev, Ruslan Ibraimov, Bahram Temirov, Nurlan Coroev, Azamat Abakirov, Taalaykül Seyitbekova, and Talgat Bokoev.

The group exhibition titled “From Master to Apprentice” concluded with a commemorative group photo. The exhibition will be open to visitors until December 10, 2024.
