Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic Launches the Higher Education Quality and Innovation Project
On February 20, 2025, a conference was held at Kyrgyz State Technical University named after I. Razzakov to officially launch the Higher Education Quality and Innovation Project.
The conference was attended by Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic Rasul Abazbek Uulu, World Bank Country Manager for the Kyrgyz Republic Hugh Riddell, Deputy Rector of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, Prof. Dr. Almaz Ibraev, rectors of leading universities in Kyrgyzstan, representatives from scientific research, entrepreneurship, industry and international organizations with initiatives for the establishment of research centers.
The project was implemented by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic with support from the World Bank. The initiative seeks to enhance the scientific potential of universities, improve educational programs and research, and strengthen links with the labour market.
At the conference, Deputy Minister Rasul Abazbek Uulu presented the Higher Education Quality and Innovation Project, providing comprehensive information to the attendees. World Bank Country Manager for the Kyrgyz Republic Hugh Riddell officially opened the conference, highlighting the importance of the project for the modernization of higher education in the country. Following the opening, representatives of leading research centers delivered presentations.
These centers will contribute to the development of key sectors of the economy by creating a platform for scientific research and innovation. They will also strengthen cooperation between universities, industry, and international partners. Additionally, the project will focus on modernizing academic programs, improving the accreditation system, and enhancing the quality of scientific research. The successful implementation of the project will strengthen Kyrgyzstan's position on the international educational stage by providing the necessary conditions for training highly qualified specialists who meet the demands of the modern labour market.
