Strategic Evaluation Meeting for the Journals of Manas University

On April 11, 2025, Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University hosted a significant meeting aimed at enhancing the alignment of its academic journals with international standards and improving publication quality. The event, held at the KTMU Senate Meeting Hall, was chaired by the Scientific Publication Coordinator, Prof. Dr. Recai Doğan, and attended by the chief editors and relevant field editors of the university's journals.

The meeting's agenda focused on several key areas: academic quality assurance, publication ethics, international indexing procedures, the development of digital publishing infrastructure, establishment of regular and planned publication schedules, promotional strategies to boost journal visibility, administrative support for editorial processes, and a strategic vision for the future.

Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University currently publishes six academic journals: Manas Journal of Agriculture, Veterinary and Life Sciences, Manas Journal of Religious Sciences, Reforma, Journal of Turkic Civilization Studies, Manas Journal of Social Studies, and Manas Journal of Engineering. During the meeting, the status of these journals was thoroughly reviewed, with an emphasis on examining their positioning in national and international indexes, the structure of editorial boards, the transparency of peer review processes, and publication performance statistics.

Prof. Dr. Recai Doğan, in his remarks highlighted that, in addition to efforts to increase the academic visibility of each journal, there is a strong need to enhance their impact within their respective fields. He outlined the steps to be taken in this regard and stressed the importance of creating a more systematic approach to the entire process.

"We must evaluate the current status of our journals, their indexing positions, editorial structures, peer review processes, and publication statistics through a comprehensive approach," Prof. Doğan stated. He also emphasized the necessity of preparing annual activity reports for each journal to ensure quality assurance and sustainable development.

The meeting focused on establishing a roadmap to enhance the professional level of journals, highlighted the importance of developing academic publication strategies through a collaborative approach. This, it was emphasized, is essential for university journals to meet international standards.
