Prof. Dr. Gülbübü Kurmanbekova, Dean of the Faculty of Science at Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University (KTMU), was honored with the “Dank” Order, one of the important state awards of the Kyrgyz Republic, in recognition of her contributions to Kyrgyzstan’s education and scientific community through her work in science and academia.

Presented by President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, the order represents state-level recognition of Prof. Dr. Kurmanbekova’s long-standing academic work and contributions to science.

State-Level Recognition of Scientific Achievement

During a ceremony held in the KTMU Senate Hall, Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan and Deputy Rector Prof. Dr. Almaz Ibraev congratulated Prof. Dr. Gülbübü Kurmanbekova on being honored with the “Dank” Order.

Rector Ceylan highlighted not only Prof. Dr. Kurmanbekova’s scientific work, but also the importance of her contributions to passing academic knowledge on to younger generations and supporting the university’s educational and research mission. He noted that her achievement was a source of pride for the entire KTMU community.

“We consider it highly valuable that the long-standing academic efforts of our scientists and their contributions to the country’s scientific community are recognized with such an important state award. I sincerely congratulate Prof. Dr. Gülbübü Kurmanbekova and hope that this meaningful award will serve as a strong motivation for new scientific studies and further achievements,” Ceylan said.

Academic Achievement a Source of Pride for the KTMU Community

Pointing out that the scientific strength of universities develops through the research conducted by the scientists they educate and employ, Ceylan stated that the achievements of academics at the national and international levels also contribute to KTMU’s scientific knowledge base and academic visibility.

Deputy Rector Prof. Dr. Almaz Ibraev also congratulated Prof. Dr. Kurmanbekova, noting that the recognition at the state level of many years of work in science and education was significant for the academic community.

What Is the “Dank” Order and Who Can Receive It?

In Kyrgyz, “Dank” means “glory, honor, and prestige.” The “Dank” Order is one of the state awards of the Kyrgyz Republic established by law and is presented to individuals who have made significant contributions and provided important services to the country in various fields.

The order may be awarded to individuals who have contributed to the socioeconomic development of Kyrgyzstan and the well-being of its people, as well as to those who have provided significant services in science, education, and healthcare; contributed to state and public life; helped preserve and develop national culture, art, and history; or contributed to the development of sports.

The design of the order also symbolizes its meaning. The eight-pointed star-shaped order is made of silver and features a wreath of gold-plated laurel leaves and juniper branches at its center. According to the official description, the laurel leaves symbolize glory and prestige, while juniper represents eternity. The order bears the inscription “Dank” at its center and incorporates Kyrgyz national motifs.
