Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University (KTMU) has launched its Orientation Program designed for students taking their first steps into university life in the 2026–2027 Academic Year. On the first day of the three-module program, students were briefed on the university's academic operations, digital systems, principles of academic integrity, learning resources, and communication with faculty members. The "National Spirit – Global Peak" Doctrine, published by the Administration of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, was also among the highlighted topics.

The program, which began on Tuesday, September 15, was held at the KTMU Congress and Culture Center in two sessions, morning and afternoon. Attended by first-year students starting their studies across various faculties, the program aims to help new students make a more conscious, prepared, and confident start to their academic and social lives.

Following the opening session, the first day continued under the theme "Discovering My Academic Life." Essential knowledge and skills needed from the very first days of university life were conveyed to students by the relevant academic and administrative units.

Rector Ceylan: “University life at Manas is a new journey to discover yourself and your future”

Welcoming the new students as part of the Orientation Program, KTMU Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan pointed out that university education does not consist merely of classes and exams, emphasizing that students are stepping into a versatile environment for personal development at Manas.

Underlining that KTMU is a "mission university," Ceylan expressed that students will undergo a process of questioning themselves, their goals, and their futures during their education. Stating that KTMU students are recognized for their successful, hardworking, and honest identities, Ceylan emphasized that students were admitted to the university based on their own achievements. Declaring, “A Manas University student is ethical,” Ceylan stated that students are key representatives of the future and shared the following message:

“As part of the Manas family, you are starting an important period of your life. Along with the knowledge you gain here, the friendships you build, the connections you form with different cultures, and the responsibilities you undertake will shape your future. We hope you make the best use of the academic, cultural, and social opportunities provided by our university, growing into inquisitive, productive individuals who add value to society. The doors, facilities, and academic background of Manas are open to you. I wish you all a successful and wonderful university life.”

International Education Opportunities for Students

Drawing attention to the fact that KTMU offers students an international quality of education, Ceylan noted that academics from Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, and various other countries contribute to the students' education.

Stating that the university continues to develop, with the Faculty of Medicine growing with new students, Ceylan expressed that students studying in the newly opened Department of Kyrgyz Language and Literature will contribute to raising a generation that will serve Kyrgyzstan's culture, literature, art, and administrative sectors.

Ceylan also announced that a 75,000-word Turkish-Kyrgyz dictionary has been completed and an idioms dictionary is being prepared, with plans to publish both by the end of the year. He stated that these works represent one of the University's contributions to Kyrgyz Language and Literature as well as Kyrgyz culture.

“Our sole aim is for you to be comfortable and at peace”

Touching upon campus life, Ceylan stated that the university continues its efforts to ensure students experience a more comfortable and peaceful educational life.

Mentioning improvements made in student dormitories, Ceylan shared that construction has begun on a new 1,000-bed female dormitory, planned to open next year.

Noting that student meal prices have not been increased for a long time and that the university offers facilities like a clothing store to support students' needs, Ceylan said: “With all of these, dear young people, we want to clear the pebbles from your path to success.” Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan stated that the university administration and academic staff work for the peace and comfort of the students, wishing the new students a successful and prosperous academic term.

Deputy Rector Ibraev: “The greatest wealth of Manas is its students united around common values”

KTMU Deputy Rector Prof. Dr. Almaz Ibraev pointed out that KTMU is one of the important educational institutions representing the strong ties between Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan.

Stating that nearly 250,000 students across 82 higher education institutions in Kyrgyzstan have started the new academic year, Ibraev drew attention to the international structure of Manas University.

Expressing that being a student at Manas University is both a source of pride and an important responsibility, Ibraev said students must appreciate the educational opportunities provided to them and fulfill their academic responsibilities in the best possible way.

Ibraev noted that technological advancements have made access to information easier, emphasizing the importance of students taking full advantage of modern opportunities to develop themselves.

Highlighting the importance of active student participation in university life, Ibraev spoke as follows: “Manas University is a special institution where young people from different cities and countries meet within a shared academic culture. Here, beyond attending classes, we expect you to research, question, discover your university's facilities, and become an active part of campus life. You will learn from one another, recognize differences, and produce together around common values. I believe the years you spend at our university will provide you with strong cultural and human insights alongside professional knowledge.”

“National Spirit – Global Peak” Doctrine Introduced to New Students

One of the notable topics of the Orientation Program was the “National Spirit – Global Peak” Doctrine published by the Administration of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Faculty of Communication member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gulzada Stanalieva informed students about the core approach and goals of the doctrine in her presentation titled “From My Roots to the Future: The National Spirit – Global Peak Doctrine.”

Stanalieva addressed key topics highlighted in the doctrine—such as national identity, historical and cultural awareness, education, science, social responsibility, and integration with the modern world—from a student perspective. The presentation emphasized the importance of young people learning their historical and cultural values while developing as individuals open to scientific thinking, innovation, and global developments. Thus, it aimed to raise awareness among new students regarding Kyrgyzstan's future social vision and the responsibilities falling upon university youth within this vision.

First Day Focused on a Strong Start to Academic Life

On the first day of the program, interconnected topics were covered to help students correctly understand academic processes and become familiar with systems they will use in daily life.

The IT Department provided information on cybersecurity, institutional email usage, and Eduroam wireless internet access. Fundamental details were conveyed to students regarding the safe use of their digital identities, accessing the university's online services, and protecting personal data.

Presentations were delivered by Jumagul Nurakun Kyzy from the IT department on “Cybersecurity, Institutional Email Usage, and Eduroam Wireless Internet Access”; Muratbek Sardarbekov from the Student Affairs Department on “From Exam to Graduation: How the Success System Works”; Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdulkadir Sheker from the Department of Computer Engineering on “Academic Integrity: From Plagiarism to the Proper Use of Artificial Intelligence”; Head of the Library and documentation department Maksatbek Ynakbekov on “My Learning and Research Opportunities at Manas”; and Asst. Prof. Dr. Venera Narinova on “How Should I Communicate with My Advisor?”.

The Department of Student Affairs explained exams, grading, academic achievement, and fundamental practices students need to know throughout their educational journey under the topic “From Exam to Graduation: How the Success System Works.”

In his presentation “Academic Integrity: From Plagiarism to the Proper Use of Artificial Intelligence,” Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdulkadir Sheker focused on academic ethics, citation, avoiding plagiarism, and the responsible use of generative AI tools in education.

In the presentation “My Learning and Research Opportunities at Manas” conducted by the Library and Documentation Department, students were introduced to library services and resources available for their learning and research processes.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Venera Narinova from the Faculty of Communication shared key points students should consider to establish healthy academic communication with faculty members both face-to-face and in digital environments through her presentation titled “How Should I Communicate with My advisor?”.

Orientation Program Covers Different Dimensions of University Life in Three Modules

The KTMU 2026–2027 Academic Year Orientation Program is structured around three main modules to comprehensively prepare new students for university life.

The “Discovering My Academic Life” module aims to acquaint students with educational processes, digital systems, academic success criteria, ethical principles, learning resources, and the culture of communication with academics.

In the “Discovering Life at Manas” module, the goal is to introduce essential elements of daily university life that will help students adapt to campus living, ranging from health and psychological counseling services to dining and sports facilities, cultural-artistic activities, student clubs, and security and emergency procedures.

The “Managing My Own Life as a University Student” module focuses on enabling students to act as more independent, conscious, and responsible individuals in university life. Time and budget management, healthy nutrition, physical and psychological well-being, and campus safety form the framework of this section. The module aims to help students cope with potential challenges, reach the right support units when needed, and maintain a balanced university life academically, socially, and personally.

Orientation Program to Continue on September 16 and 17

Aimed at easing the transition process for first-year students and ensuring they consciously benefit from the academic and social opportunities at KTMU, the Orientation Program will continue on September 16 and 17, 2026.

On the second and third days of the program, students will get to know campus life at Manas and the opportunities offered to them more closely, receiving direct information from relevant academic and administrative units regarding services and opportunities that will help shape their careers, personal development, and futures.
