The primary objective of the Department of Travel Management and Tourist Guiding at the Faculty of Tourism is to train qualified tourist guides and future managers who have a strong knowledge of Kyrgyzstan's history, culture, and geography; possess effective communication skills; can think analytically; are equipped with problem-solving, management, and organizational skills; and uphold core social values such as tolerance, courtesy, respect, and honesty, along with leadership and representation abilities.
Tourist guides play many important roles in the realization of tourism activities that are responsible, do not harm the environment, aim to be in harmony with nature, and support local communities both economically and socially. Their roles in nature-based tourism are especially significant in the context of sustainable tourism. For this purpose, practice-based courses of the department are conducted in the Education and Practice Workshop. This space is also used to store and manage equipment utilized during subject-specific courses and practical field trips conducted by the department.
The inventory of the Education and Practice Workshop of the Department of Travel Management and Tourist Guiding includes materials such as tents, sleeping bags, mats, camping food and beverage service tools, various specialized equipment used in mountaineering, and geographic maps. These materials are used by students during educational excursions across Kyrgyzstan and in courses such as Tourist Guiding, Tourist Safety and Travel Security, Special Interest Tourism, and Mountain Tourism.
