Canteens, buffets and cafeterias

Two main canteens function on the territory of the KTU “Manas” to meet the public catering needs of students and the staff of the university, one in the main building and the other is located on the Ch. Aitmatov’s Campus. Hot meals are provided to visitors in all canteens of the university. Social aid in the form of free meals is provided to needy students from a fund formed by donations from the academic and administrative staff of the university.A complimentary breakfast is provided for students living on campus every day. Buffets have a free service for a specific category of students, supported by university staff on a charitable basis. This service is based on a specially developed electronic program.

Catering services:

The purpose of the department for the operation of social facilities and public catering is to provide students and university staff with services for a balanced and rational diet in compliance with all sanitary and hygienic norms and rules. The entire cooking process takes place in the kitchen of the social facilities located on the Ch. Aitmatov’s campus. The food department of the university is responsible for organizing meals for students and university staff at lunchtime and in the evening.

The monthly menu is developed taking into account the physiological needs of students, the required calorie content of the daily diet, the optimal amount of basic nutrients and seasonality. The menu is based on: hot and cold appetizers, salads, meat, chicken and fish dishes, desserts, pastries. For students and university staff, the catering department offers snacks services in several buffets. On average, about 2000-3000 people use the services of buffets daily. The buffets offer a range of products and services, selling confectionery and bakery products, hot and cold drinks, pizzas, pide, lahmajun, cutlets, salads, toasts, etc. The buffets carry out the sale of food and drinks from 8:00 am to 23:00 pm. Every day, a sample is taken from each batch of prepared dishes, which is stored for 72 hours under appropriate conditions. For students involved in the activities of the Department of Health, Culture and Sports, snacks, coffee breaks, lunches and dinners are organized. All employees of the food unit work in clean uniforms, hats, gloves and over sleeves. The menu for a month developed by a food processing engineer, taking into account the required daily caloric intake, depending on the season, is published on the university website.
