Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University (KTMU) implements a comprehensive approach to agricultural education, extending learning beyond the classroom by actively involving students in production processes. A notable example of this approach took place on June 2, 2025, when students from the Faculty of Agriculture successfully harvested organic mushrooms cultivated in the university’s greenhouses.
KTMU Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Recai Doğan, Secretary General Prof. Dr. İsmet Altıntaş, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture Prof. Dr. Ahmet Aygün, and numerous faculty members attended the harvest event. During the visit, the participants toured the greenhouse facilities, observed the production process, received information directly from the students, and took part in the harvest.
Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan stated: "We ensure that our students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in agriculture, so they are well prepared for their future careers. Every activity in these greenhouses helps strengthen their professional readiness. I sincerely thank all our instructors and students who contributed to this valuable work."
The organic mushroom cultivation project provides students with the opportunity to learn modern agricultural techniques in a real-world setting. This practical training supports the development of highly qualified graduates equipped to meet the needs of the agricultural sector.
Through such initiatives, KTMU not only enhances the quality of its educational programs but also contributes to the agricultural development of Kyrgyzstan by preparing young professionals with both technical expertise and practical experience.
The Faculty of Agriculture remains committed to this integrated teaching approach, which combines theoretical instruction with hands-on application. Organic mushroom production serves as a key area where students build technical skills, gain industry-relevant knowledge, and develop a strong sense of responsibility.
